We are taking our granddaughter with us and want to do the character dining, how do we make reservations for this, do we have to make these early or can we make them when we arrive at WDW?

    Dwight,

I'm so excited that you are making this trip with your granddaughter!  My girls were able to go to Disney with my parents, and I've been lucky enough to visit with my grama as well.  Some of my best Disney memories are of multi-generational vacations, and I'm sure you will have similar magical moments on your trip.

Disney allows you to make reservations 180 days in advance.  Many people take advantage of that window and book very early, so certain reservations are very hard to secure.  I highly recommend reserving any character meals and table-service meals you may want well in advance of your trip.  You can do this by calling 1-407-WDW-DINE (939-3463).

Because meals can fill up, I find it very helpful to have several choices in mind when I call.  I pick a few favorite restaurants and certain days/times I prefer, and then just see what is available.  The Cast Member you speak with will be very helpful in tracking down reservations for you, so don't be shy about asking for suggestions or staying on the phone for quite a while as they look.  I often book 12 days of reservations in one very long phone call, so I know firsthand that they are very patient people.  :)

Enjoy your trip with your granddaughter!
