Hi. Taking a good friend and her daughter to MK for her 1st visit in Sept. I was thinking of surprising her with the special dinner with an animator. Has anyone done this? What can we expect?

    Hi Michelle,

I am unaware of any Dine with an Animator experience at Walt Disney World. What you may be thinking if is the Dine with an Imagineer experience offered at the Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Animators are the folks that work on creating many of Disney's film and TV presentations. Imagineers are the folks who work on creating the various aspects of the theme park experience. These might be artists, sound designers, construction professionals, or a host of other jobs.

Several of the Moms Panelists did Dine with an Imagineer last fall. The food was a prix fixe menu from the wonderful Brown Derby kitchen. Our Imagineer was actually a librarian who helps provide information and documentation for theme park attraction development. He spent nearly two hours eating with us, describing his work, and answering any question we could throw at him. As a former librarian myself, I was truly fascinated by his descriptions of the way Disney uses secondary research, but I know that some of the other members of the group were disappointed that we didn't get a more design-oriented professional for our session. There's no way to request or know in advance what type of Imagineer might be present at your meal.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you'd like more information about this experience.
