We are taking our first family vacation with our 6 year old son. How is the weather in January because he loves pools and will the crowds be crazy?

Hi Melissa! You've picked a great month for a first Walt Disney World vacation! Attendance levels in the parks are generally fairly low in January (with the exception of the New Years and Martin Luther King holidays) so you should be able to experience lots of attractions with little waiting.

The weather at Disney in January can vary. High temperatures average in the comfortable low 70s, but you'll want to plan to dress in layers since the average lows are in the upper 40s. You could have days where you're wearing shorts and other days where you'll need coats and gloves, so bring a variety of clothes that you can peel off or layer on as needed. The pools at the Disney resorts are heated so your son can swim during your January visit even if the air temperatures are chilly.

Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions about your upcoming vacation! We'd love to help!
