Hi. We are taking our first family cruise in March. We will be leaving from Port Canaveral to Nassau and Castaway Cay back to Port Canaveral. Will we need passports or will a valid driver's license serve as proof of US citizenship?

Welcome aboard, Kim! I'm so happy to hear that you're looking forward to your very first sailing with Disney Cruise Line in just over a month!

If you have passports, that's the best way to go. My family always travels with passports, as we like the security of knowing that we can easily get home should we have an emergency in a foreign port or miss the ship for some other reason. However, it's almost time for you to set sail, and if you don't already have valid passports, you have another option.

Guests sailing to the Bahamas or Caribbean with Disney Cruise Line out of the US can provide a government-issued photo ID (like driver's license) along with original or copy of their state-issued birth certificate. Children under 16 only need the state-issued birth certificate when traveling with their parents. Read more about the details of Required Travel Documents on Disney Cruise Line's website.

Let me know if I can help with any other questions before you set sail, Kim! I'm happy to help!
