We will be taking our first cruise on the Disney Dream in August, with the littlest addition to our family that will be 9 months old. What are some suggestions and tips for fun activities with a baby in Castaway Cay?

Welcome aboard, Juan! Congratulations on the newest addition to your family! And congratulations on booking a magical cruise with Disney! You've chosen the right cruise line for your first cruise, as Disney Cruise Line was made with families in mind, so there are plenty of opportunities for fun with your little one, as well as time and places for you and your wife to sneak away for some adult time too!

If you haven't already, I'd suggest checking out It's A Small World Nursery. Before you set sail, you might consider making reservations for your baby to play with the wonderful counselors there so you can enjoy a night out. A romantic dinner for two at the adult exclusive Palo sounds nice, doesn't it? You'll need to make reservations. Though there is an additional cost to the nursery and Palo, I promise it's worth every penny. When else can you have date night on the high seas?

At Castaway Cay, you'll be happy to know that there is plenty of shade - a must with a little one. When you head off the ship, hop onboard the tram and take it to one of the two Family Beach stops. We like to stay onboard for the second stop, as many guests hop right off at Scuttle's Cove, the first stop, so we find there are less crowds down the beach at the second stop, Pelican Plunge. When you get off the tram there, you'll find wagons and strollers available to borrow, free of charge, for your use while on Disney's private island. With a 9 month old, a stroller or wagon will be great to help carry all your gear!

Take your little cruiser over to Spring A Leak where he or she can enjoy the wet and wild splashy fun for young children. Geysers and pop jets allow parents and small kids to get wet and have fun together. Of course, just playing in the shade on the beach and in the shallow ocean water will be a big treat for your baby too! Then, take some time to wander the island and all that it has to offer. Activities and events are planned all day, so enjoy it all, Juan!
