Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Paola!
How absolutely fabulous that you are taking your very first Disney Cruise to
Alaska this summer. I am so excited for you to experience this adventure onboard the
Disney Wonder!
There are so many ways to explore the wild frontier of Alaska with all of the
Port Adventures offered by Disney Cruise Line. While I haven't experienced the
Helicopter Glacier Walk About personally, I have visited a glacier at another Alaskan port.
In my experience, I have found it to be cold on or near the glacier. I would recommend dressing warmly with a warm coat or jacket along with at least a hat and thick mittens. It is a good idea to dress in layers so you are comfortable prior to arriving on the glacier but can add more layers once you arrive. As it can be bright on the glacier with the snow reflecting any sunlight, it is recommended you wear sunglasses as well.
Be sure to wear good shoes as well that grip and keep your feet warm. Snow boots or hiking boots are perfect. An extra pair of socks isn't a bad idea either!
The final piece to bring with on your adventure is a poncho or rain jacket in the event of light rain or a shower, which can be common during the spring and summer months in Alaska. I usually bring a foldable poncho in a backpack just in case.
Enjoy making magical memories this summer! Bon voyage! Angie
