Greetings, Evan, and welcome to planDisney!
We appreciate that you contacted us before your family trip to the Disneyland Resort and I hope that you're having fun planning a magical visit! It's very heartwarming to see that you want to make sure that everyone in your party has a good time, including your father. It would be my pleasure to help you.
A day at the Disneyland Resort can be a magical time spent with family and friends but it does involve covering a lot of ground throughout the day. I regularly log anywhere from 8-10 miles over a typical day at the Parks. So we definitely want your father to be as comfortable as possible.
Disney does have a list of
Prohibited Items that are not allowed through the security checkpoints. It specifically states that folding chairs are not allowed, "with the exception of cane-chair and seat-walker mobility aids," so I think your father will be fine bringing his cane and cane chair. Ultimately, the Security Cast Members will have the final say on what to allow through the checkpoints.
Disney also offers
Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities as well, so be sure to take a look on behalf of your father. You could consider renting an
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) or Wheelchair for your dad so he can get around the Parks easier. There are also plenty of options for
Accessing Attraction Queues for him if he needs.
Your visit is almost here and
Pixar Fest will be in full swing during your time here! My son and I just saw Inside Out 2 and I'm excited to experience
World of Color - ONE with its new Pre-Show featuring the characters from the movie! This being your first visit, I'd recommend taking your time to fully enjoy your visit. Take in the Park's ambiance and architecture and don't stress about rushing around to see everything.
Genie+ (which will change to
Lightning Lane Multi Pass on July 24, 2024) might help you save some time by skipping the standby queues at participating attractions.
Evan, I hope that this response was helpful for you. Please return anytime you have more questions for us. We're always happy to assist and we'd love to hear from you again!
Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!
