Hello, we are taking our family to Disneyland and we would like to give them a Disney gift card or Disney Dollars to use as spending money. Which do you recommend for use within the parks? Disney Dollars or a Disney gift card?

    Hello Jennifer,

Your adventure is awaiting you at the Disneyland Resort. Thank you for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.

I think your idea of giving your children a form of Disney currency at the parks to use themselves is a ‘practically prefect’ idea! I don’t think you can go wrong with selecting either a Disney Gift Card or Disney Dollars. However, some kiosks may be limited in being able to accept a Disney Gift Card - it will depend on the type of register they have and whether they can take a credit card.

Disney Dollars are handled like cash. Disney Dollars are the official currency of the Disneyland Resort. The other benefit to Disney Dollars is that they are often kept as a souvenir. When a purchase is made with Disney Dollars and change is to be given to the Guest, the change will be given in U.S. currency.

So you will want to decide if you want your kids to be responsible for actual change with their Disney Dollars or having a Disney Gift Card where the balance will remain on that card after purchases.

I hope this helps you. Please feel free to visit me again with any other planning questions you may have!

    Wishing you a ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ time!
