Hi, Erin! My husband and I did this for our daughter just about a year ago. She's our middle child, although our oldest is 10 years older, and she was feeling a bit squeezed out by her older sister's activities, and her younger sister's demands for attention.
The first thing we did special was book her an appointment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, but if your 10 year old is feeling too old to be decked out like a princess or a pop star, take her to one of the other wonderful spas. You can do a whole mother and daughter spa visit at the Grand Floridian, or just schedule her for a some big sister pampering with a pedicure and a manicure at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa.
Another incredible option is the Pirate and Pals Fireworks Cruise. The cruise takes you out on the Seven Seas Lagoon for an amazing seat for the Wishes fireworks display at the Magic Kingdom. The cruise currently incorporates some of the characters from Peter Pan, and includes snacks and drinks.
You might also consider allowing her to plan a day with just mom and dad. I'm sure with a new baby brother at home, she doesn't get a lot of say in how the days at home go. She might really enjoy the chance to browse the website at
www.disneyworld.com and come up with a full day of what she considers fun. Maybe let her choose her favorite restaurant for one of the meals during her special day as well, and treat her to a birthday cake. You can order the cake by calling 407-827-2253.
I hope she has a magical time on her special day!
