Hi Mom's. We are taking our DD4 to disneyworld for the first time in September. We are flying from the Westcoast. (1st plane ride) Any tips on how to keep an active child entertained on the plane?

Hi, Tracy!  The first thing I do is book either a late in the evening flight or early in the morning flight - and I don't worry about bedtime the night before.  I can usually get my kids to take a bit of a nap on the plane.

I also hit the Dollar Store before a trip.  I stock up on inexpensive toys, books, and coloring books that I can pull out.  I find it's better to have new to them stuff, that way they aren't bored with old things.  I find the little figurines are pretty good to have, or puzzles without too many pieces work well on the tray tables.

You can also play movies that you can download before you go on your iPad or computer, and then after the flight allows the use of electronic devices, you'll have a few movies to watch.  It's also a good time to learn card tricks!  I think all three of my girls learned how to play Go Fish on a flight!

There are also travel games that you can find at places like Target - both card games and small versions of familiar games.  They have in the past had them all in one place, especially as summer vacation time draws near.

I hope this helps make your flight - and your daughter's - a more pleasant experience!
