Hello- I am taking my daughter to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast on the morning of her birthday. Is there anyway that I can request them to sing or recognize her on her special day. She will be turning 8. Also, how are the characters at this restaurant?

It's so much fun to celebrate a birthday at WDW. The first thing you should do is pick up a "Today is My Birthday" button. These are available at the guest relations offices of all the theme parks and also at many resort concierge desks and park ticket windows. You can get one at any point in your trip and have your daughter wear it on her birthday. Cast members and other guests will be sure to give her an extra smile. You should also call Disney Dining at 407-WDW-DINE and let them know that you will be having a birthday at 1900 Park Fare, and remind your server when you are seated. Often this will result in a special treat like confetti on the table or a free cupcake. If you would like to have a larger or personalized cake at your meal, you can arrange for this with Disney Dining.  I have never heard of "Happy Birthday" being sung to an individual person at a character meal. At any given character meal there may be dozens of people celebrating birthdays, so this just wouldn't be possible. At some meals, notably Chef Mickey's, they do sing a "Let's Celebrate Your Special Day" song to everyone in the room.

The characters at 1900 Park Fare are very attentive, as they are at all the character meals. Often at 1900 there will be a character posing for photos in the lobby to the restaurant, as well as those in the dining room.

    Have a great trip.
