We are taking my daughter and her family on a Western Caribbean cruise in June. Both my husband and daughter have Celiac which means no gluten at all. I am concerned about getting gluten free food on excursions. Do you have ideas for handling this?

    Ahoy, Jeanne!

Disney Cruise Line is so wonderful about catering to special dietary needs. In the main dining rooms, one of the chefs will most likely come out and visit your table to inquire about your husband and daughter's Celiac needs and ensure that they will be met. They might even get some special dishes created just for them!

As far as food on a Port Adventure, I have found that it is not always easy to find ANY food on them. We have learned that you are allowed to bring prepackaged food off of the ship and into any of the Caribbean ports. You are not allowed to bring any fruits or vegetables off of the ship. It is probably best to plan to bring some snacks along with you.

Our family typically packs some trail mix packs from Costco to take on port adventures. We also just discovered some amazing dried fruit bars that we will be taking on our next cruise. I try to plan to have our own snacks, as there is always the possibility that we won't find anything to eat.

I hope this helps with the planning for your Western Caribbean Cruise. That is my FAVORITE itinerary! I absolutely love to visit the Stingray Sandbar in Grand Cayman.

Please let me know if you have further questions as your voyage gets closer.

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
