We are taking my daughter to Disney World this fall Sept 21-24. I know the Free Disney Dining Plan is going on at the same time we will be there. Do you think this will make the parks more crowed than usual for September?

    Jenny,

No, I really don't think the parks are more crowded during free dining.  This is still the 'off-season', and overall crowd levels are still lower than average.

However, Disney restaurants and resorts will certainly be busy.  Because of the popularity of this plan, many visitors will be staying on property take take advantage of it. They will also be booking lot of table service meals to use their dining credits, so restaurant reservations can be harder to get at this time.  Another thing you'll notice is that Extra Magic Hours have higher attendance during free dining than they do in, say, January.  This is again because of the increased number of Disney resort guests.

Basically, there will be lower crowds than there are in busier seasons, but the majority of the people you encounter in the parks will also be staying on Disney property, so you may still find buses and eateries to be busy.

For what it's worth, we've traveled during free dining several times and we've never had a problem.  It's still a great time to be in Disney!
