We are taking our children, ages 5 and 2, to DWfor the first time in August. 1 day of our 6 day trip will be at the DHS. I was wondering if at their ages they would enjoy the 50's prime time cafe or the sci fi dine in better?

    Brandy,

As the mother of little ones those same ages, I'd opt for the Sci-Fi.  In fact, we hope to hit the Sci-Fi on our August trip as well!  It's a very fun atmosphere, and my girls find it very entertaining.  They love to eat in a car, and while they are more enthralled with the starry sky than the movies, I really enjoy the clips of movies that I loved as a kid!

If you want to eat in a car, be sure to request that when you check in at the podium.  There is traditional seating as well so you may get that unless you request otherwise.  One downside to the in-car dining is that it doesn't make for easy conversation among your group.  You'll be seated in rows, usually two per seat, so talking back and forth can be tricky.

The 50s Prime Time cafe has a kitschy-cool heme and can be fun, but I'd consider it more of an older child or adult place.  It's absolutely suitable for kids of all ages, but I don't think the younger ones would appreciate the humor as much as the grown-ups do.  We ate there with our girls but it didn't hold their attention.  (And to be perfectly honest, I'm not rushing back myself)

    Have a great first trip!
