We're taking our 2nd Alaskan Cruise on the Wonder on 9/2. On our 1st, my son had just turned 20 and was able to participate in the 1820s club. This time he is 22 and it is his college graduation gift. Is there anything for younger 20somethings?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Randi!

Your son is a lucky sailor to celebrate his high school graduation (albeit delayed!) and his college graduation with a Disney Cruise Line vacation to Alaska! I'm glad to offer some tips to help him make the most of his time.

1820 is a great way for 18-20-year-olds to get to know new friends and enjoy their vacation, so I'm glad your son took advantage of that offering. Now that he is older, he may have to be a bit more proactive since there aren't specific activities for his age group, but I know he will have a great time. Here are some thoughts I have to share:

    • Before the cruise, check out any Facebook groups for your itinerary. There may be some young 20-somethings who are also looking to connect with their peers.
    • Attend the trivia offerings for adults. On my recent cruise, there were groups of young adults looking for others to join their teams. On the last day of the cruise, that group was still welcoming new folks and they dominated the 2000's music trivia! By the way, this tip holds true for adults of any age. My husband and I befriended two young-at-heart Guests and we gave everyone a run for their money with the 80's music trivia!
    • If your son is interested in learning more about mixology or adult beverages, sign up for a Beverage Tasting Seminar (for an extra fee). I've met plenty of young 20-somethings during these fun and informative events. I find that many fellow Guests enjoy making new friends at other adult-exclusive activities, too.
    • Spending time in spaces like the Cove Pool and Cove Café is always one of my favorite things to do, especially with the amazing scenery just off the ship.
    • If he enjoys fitness, check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for classes and group events (some are complimentary and others are available for a fee) offered in the Fitness Center.
    • And, don't forget, you are never too old to enjoy a photo-op with Captain Mickey and his friends in their Alaskan-inspired attire!
I hope these tips give you and your son some ideas for enjoying your vacation together, Randi. What a special time for you to celebrate his (and your) accomplishment!

    Wishing you many magical memories,
    Shannon
