Hi, I am a surviving spouse of a veteran who had a 100% disability rating and passed from his service connected illness. I am receiving DIC benefits. Would I qualify for stay and discounts at Shades of Green?

Magical Greetings, Helena! Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for submitting your question to us!

Thank you for your husband's service on behalf of planDisney and from one military spouse to another. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I did research the Shades of Green Resort website, and you should qualify to stay here as a surviving spouse. I would call the Shades of Green reservations line at 1 (888) 593-2242 to see available options. You can book resort reservations, and order Disney Military Salute tickets from Shades of Green over the phone with your military ID.

I also spoke to a Cast Member from Walt Disney World Resort, and you also can qualify to stay at select Disney Resort hotels with the military rate. This rate can be applied to your Disney Resort reservation by calling (407) 939-5277. The rates are available from 1 January through 20 December 2024.

Deciding which resort to stay at can depend on several factors, including proximity to the theme parks, resort theming, and amenities available. Shades of Green offers three table-service restaurants, two quick-service style restaurants, as well as takeout. The resort rooms are among the largest on property, and the resort offers tranquil views of Disney's Magnolia Golf CourseMagnolia Spa is the perfect place to unwind and relax, and Mill Pond Pool is perfect for those hot days. Shades of Green is also close to Disney's Magic Kingdom Park and qualifies for Early Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours on select nights. There is also a small Exchange on-site if you need to purchase snacks or souvenirs.

Helena, I hope all of this information was helpful! Thank you again for stopping by planDisney. Please send me questions at any time if you need further assistance planning your visit to Walt Disney World. You've got a friend in me!

    Magic Awaits,

    Frances
