Just to make sure, is Canadian ice wine a wine and not a liquor/spirit so that I can bring it on board right? Thank you!

Well ahoy there K, it's so great to see you back on the shores of planDisney for another bit of nautical knowledge!

I remember when I answered your questions about planning your wedding on board the Disney Wish; bringing on board your own refreshments to toast any occasion is definitely something that many folks plan to take advantage of when they embark! As a proud Canuck, I must say that it definitely warms this Northern heart to hear that Canadian ice wine is the treasured beverage of choice that you'll be stowing away into your carry-on luggage as you board. (Be sure that you don't pack them into any checked luggage as you'll suffer the fate of those who aren't aware of the Disney Cruise Line Alcohol Policy!)

By this very same policy, a friendly Disney Cruise Line Cast Member confirmed for me that ice wine is indeed considered to be a wine and not a spirit. Be aware that due to the characteristically skinny shape of certain bottles, the Port security staff who are in charge of scanning carry-on luggage may not always be knowledgeable enough to tell the difference on at least one occasion that I've witnessed - but rest assured that Canadian producers tend to prominently place "Ice Wine" on their labels.

Due to the limitation to two bottles as per the alcohol policy, you may also find that you may be bringing on board a little less compared to other wines as dessert ice wines are typically bottled in smaller volumes. (Considering the cost of ice wine whenever it's served on board or at Disney signature dining locations like Le Cellier Steakhouse at EPCOT, I still think it's worthwhile booty to bring on your journey!)

While I'm more of a sailor than a sommelier, I've definitely enjoyed my share of ice wine tastings in the Niagara Region and will attest to just how perfectly it can balance out any spicy or salty snacks you might have on board; there's just something about ordering in some hot wings and the All Hands On Deck cheese plate from the Room Service menu to enjoy on your balcony with a sweet, chilled glass of Canada's finest liquid gold. Let me know how it goes, K and you're always welcome back here at planDisney for more pearls of wisdom from any of our Panelists!

Let's raise a glass and toast to enjoying some cool, Canadian refreshment on your voyage!
