I love the idea of having a live wedding painting at a wedding on Disney Wish! Am I allowed to hire my own live wedding painter and bring aboard? And am I able to host a Chinese wedding tea ceremony at the Tower Suite if I stay there? Thank you very much!

Hello and welcome to planDisney, K!

As a recent Disney Groom who had a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding this year, I was so excited to see your question pop up; I hope that I can provide you with some useful nautical knowledge as you plan on tying the knot on board the Disney Wish!

    • For most wedding celebrations held at Walt Disney World Resort like mine, there are restrictions and policies currently in place that limit what kinds of outside or third-party vendors you might be able to have for your wedding. At the present time for example, a ceremony within Magic Kingdom Park requires you to hire a photographer through Disney Fine Art Photography with no ability to choose whose work you'd like capturing your wedding memories. Similarly, a live Watercolor Artist may be requested for a price between $3000 - $4000 at venues outside of the Theme Parks, with currently no option to choose from a list and subject to availability.
    • On the other hand, Cruise Weddings have quite a bit more flexibility regarding outside vendors, especially if the service that they provide is not available to book through Disney Cruise Line directly via your Planner. Many couples opt to bring in their own vendors including makeup artists, officiants, photographers and videographers for the freedom to take advantage of their services throughout the entirety of their cruise! Bear in mind that doing so will count these vendors towards your guest count, and since packages are currently designed for a total of 18 people you may want to take into consideration the additional fees that are applied per person for going over this total.

In this case your live wedding painter may also count in the same way, but the Cast Member I spoke to encourages couples to check with their Disney Cruise Wedding Specialist to confirm the most recent policies that are currently or will be in place, especially before any vendors book their required cruise reservations. They also noted that wedding couples who book the Wish Tower Suite and intend to host any additional gatherings like a tea ceremony or similar, should check with their Specialist and let them know so that they can be made aware of any possible restrictions in place.

I absolutely wish that I could give you more useful information beyond what I've gathered, but if there's anything that I've learned personally through the Disney Wedding planning process - it's that everything is subject to change and availability without prior notice. In the meantime, I recommend reading the Ever After Blog, connecting with other Disney Cruise Wedding couples online, and listening to Disney Wedding podcasts for real examples of what to expect. Please come back to planDisney if you have any more questions for me about Disney Weddings whether at sea or on land!

Here's to your upcoming wonderful, wishful, Wedding Celebration!
