    I was supposed to go on a trip this past September, but we pushed it back a year. However, we have our complimentary Magic Bands we were sent before we officially moved the trip. How soon can I link the bands to my account, and will this kill the battery?

    Hi there, Michele! It's so great to see you back here at planDisney. 

    Michele, I could not take a trip to Walt Disney World Resort without my handy dandy MagicBand. This little Mousekatool lets me be totally hands-free since I can use it for my theme park admission, PhotoPass Photos, and charging privileges. 

    Michele, if you received your MagicBands through a hotel reservation, instead of purchasing them through ShopDisney, they will have come pre-linked to your account, so they still should be ready to use. To verify that your bands are linked, simply log into your My Disney Experience Account and click "MagicBands & Admission Cards." If your MagicBand is showing as linked to you, it will automatically detect any theme park tickets and hotel reservations assigned to you as well. 

    You can expect your MagicBand battery to last anywhere from 2-4 years. In fact, I still have a MagicBand from more than 3 years ago that works perfectly, so I would not worry about the battery draining too quickly.
