Suggestions for best lodging traveling with a 4 yo, 1 yo. I know on the monorail is ideal but if there are other more cost effective options (allow us to stay longer, having days off between parks) Thinking of an off site vacation rental, bad idea??

Welcome to planDisney, Desiree! I’m so excited to know that you are planning a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort with your Mouseketeers! I’m happy to share some advice with you!

I love visiting the “Most Magical Place on Earth” with my family, but I also think it’s very important to stay within my budget. With that said, I know that Resorts along the monorail route are just dreamy, but my family always asks to stay at The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

Fort Wilderness grounds are a fun boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom Park. There are so many fun recreational activities at this Resort, like horseback riding and kayaking, that just aren’t available anywhere else at Disney! On off days, you can splash around at the pool or rent a golf cart to get around and enjoy the magical wilderness.

Did you know that guests staying at the campgrounds love to decorate their sites during the Holidays? Decorations are also elaborate for Halloween and the 4th of July! You don’t even have to visit the theme parks to have an awesome day!

This Resort is in the “moderate” category, and you will find that a nightly stay is much less than the “deluxe” hotels. I love the flexibility I have for meals for my young girls at The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. With the full kitchen, I can serve them cereal, scramble some eggs or make pancakes for breakfast before heading off for our adventures at the theme parks. I’ve even made a whole Thanksgiving meal in that kitchen!

I also suggest keeping an eye out for Special Offers. You may find a promotion that coincides with the dates of your stay, helping you stretch your vacation budget.

Desiree, I hope I’ve been helpful. If you have any more questions, you can always come back to see us. It’s our pleasure to help you!

    Have a magical visit!
