How strict is the age limit for the castaway cay 5k? My son will be 9 when we cruise but is in a running club at school and runs 5ks often.

    Ahoy, Jami!

Thank you for "running" your question by the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

How cool that your son, at such a young age, runs 5Ks often! I am sure you are super proud of him! There is nothing better than crossing the finish line at a runDisney race, which the Castaway Cay 5K became in 2015. There is even an official runDisney medal for the race!

While the official age to participate in the Castaway Cay 5K is ten years old, you can always speak to the crew members in charge to see if your son might participate. In the past, I have seen younger runners take part in the race, but this may not necessarily be the case currently. He also might be able to "unofficially" run the race, which means he wouldn't get a bib or medal, but could certainly run the course.

I hope your son gets the big Mickey thumbs up to run the race! Maybe this will be his first of many runDisney races.

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
