Hi Andy! You’ve brought a great question to us today! As a “Disney Dad” of three boys who “grew up” in the Disney Parks, I can start this answer by sharing that five years old is definitely not too young for kids to have an amazing experience at the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks!
My twin sons were two years old the first time that we took them to the Disney Parks! From the resort hotel pool to character dining, and many attractions to enjoy in the parks, the boys had a great first visit (and many more after)! They loved Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lighyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Peter Pan’s Flight, “it’s a small world,” Mickey’s Philharmagic, The People Mover, and Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid! And that’s just Magic Kingdom!
The height requirements for every ride at all four Disney Parks are listed on the Walt Disney World Resort website. In fact, this
convenient link will take you to a full listing of all the attractions! I hope you find this planning tool to be helpful!
Andy, I found that my kids really enjoyed the resort hotel pools! Many resort hotel pools offer slides, water features, and even a smaller child’s water play area! Another joy was
Character Dining! My kids loved The Lion King! So, we would book a dining experience featuring characters from that movie!
Thanks for coming to planDisney, Andy! Please send us more questions as you think of them!
Happy Planning!
Jonathan
