Strange question? We will be at WDW first week in January...will the ice cream places for ddp snack credits be open? Like Hollywood Scoops and Plaza Ice Cream. We have never come in a winter month before.

Hello, Connie! Thanks for bringing another great question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

You will be thrilled to hEAR that ice cream is a year-round treat at Walt Disney World Resort! The only time an ice cream shop would be closed is if it’s undergoing a refurbishment (like Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is currently). But even Beaches & Cream has moved to a temporary location in Disney’s Beach Club Resort so they can keep scooping up that yummy goodness while their home base is being remodeled to accommodate even more ice cream-loving Guests.

When you visit the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, you have to try the Mickey or Minnie Mini Kitchen Sink Sundae. Although not considered a snack on the Disney Dining Plan, I think that one is definitely worth the out-of-pocket cost!

Enjoy your January visit to Walt Disney World Resort, Connie. I think you’ll love the experience of cooler temperatures--my family and I definitely do.

Please let us know if there are any additional questions we can answer for you. We hope to see you real soon!
