Welcome to planDisney, Cheryl!
It sounds like you’re getting ready to dive into some fun on your upcoming holiday! Hopefully, you’re already picking out your favorite swimsuits and sunhats!
Stormalong Bay at Disney’s
Yacht and
Beach Club Resorts is truly one of the most unique and popular pools at Walt Disney World. With its sand-bottomed floor, lazy river, and shipwreck-themed waterslide, it feels like a mini water park. I’ve even seen little ones building sandcastles poolside.
I completely understand your concern about the refurbishment, especially with your arrival in early July. When I spoke with a Cast Member at Guest Services today, they confirmed that Stormalong Bay is still scheduled to reopen by the end of June. While Disney hasn’t announced an exact reopening date, recent updates, such as water being added and fresh sand delivered, suggest the refurbishment is progressing well and on track for a reopening later this month.
During the closure, Guests staying at Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club Resorts can enjoy three leisure pools: the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove pools. While they may not have the excitement of Stormalong Bay, they still offer a refreshing and relaxing escape.
As another option, Guests staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel this year are offered complimentary admission to one of Disney’s
water parks on their check in day. Since you’re coming from the UK, I know that might be a tough after a long travel day, but it’s still nice to have as a backup plan, just in case!
And after all that swimming, I highly recommend treating yourself at
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, right by the pool area. If you can’t get a reservation, there’s a walk-up window with a limited menu of delicious ice cream treats. While the Kitchen Sink sundae gets all the attention, my favorite is the No Way Jose: chocolate, peanut butter, and pure deliciousness.
Cheryl, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the pool is ready and waiting for you on arrival. Wishing you a splashtastic stay and a truly magical holiday!
Warmly,
Eean
