Hello, Adam! Thanks for bringing another great question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Stormalong Bay at
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is hands-down my favorite pool at
Walt Disney World Resort. My daughter loves the sandy-bottom pool and sitting on its “island” to build sandcastles, my husband loves the lazy river, and I love the serene setting to read a good book in one of the lounge chairs with my toes in the sand. (It’s the perfect beach/ pool combo!)
While you are welcome to bring your own floats (as long as they aren’t large and obtrusive), I’m happy to let you know that Stormalong Bay provides inner tubes that sound exactly like what you’ve described! They’re clear donut-style tubes with handles on the top that allow you to float with your arms and legs over the top or float on your chest with your arms over the side. When my daughter was 7 years old, they were a little too big for her (and she kept slipping through the hole), but they are definitely fine for older children and adults.
When you head to the pool, make sure you and your children are each wearing your
MagicBands, as you’ll need them to access the Stormalong Bay area. Another suggestion is to check out the pool at night! Stormalong Bay is gorgeous after the sun goes down, and it’s a completely different experience to float along the lazy river under the glow of the pool lights. Head to the Gazebo upstairs for a game of billiards in your swimsuits, too! From there you can also see the fireworks from
Disney’s Hollywood Studios and catch a great view of
Disney’s Boardwalk all aglow.
Enjoy your visit to Walt Disney World Resort, Adam! Let us know if there are any other last-minute questions you have before your trip.
