Hello. We are staying at WLV w/3 kids, one will be 2 mths old. Does the boat transportation allow open strollers or do we have to fold it closed & hold the baby? Also, can we walk to Contemprary from MK & take the boat to WL after the MK park close

    Hi Melissa!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  My boys love the boat transportation available from The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. During our stay there we used the water taxi service as often as possible!

On that trip we traveled with not one, but two strollers, so I totally understand the convenience of not having to fold them up to board. What we found was that sometimes we were required to fold them, and sometimes not! The biggest factor is the type of boat that arrives at the dock. There are two main styles that service the boat launch at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The smaller style does not allow you to roll the stroller directly onto the boat, and so you would be required to fold the stroller. The larger boats can sometimes allow you to drive your stroller directly onboard. This may change however, at the discretion of the Cast Member in charge of boarding due to occupancy, water levels or overall safety. I would enjoy the times when you are allowed to board with an open stroller, but always be prepared to fold it if needed.

There is a walking path from Disney’s Contemporary Resort to the Magic Kingdom. It is possible to walk from the Magic Kingdom to Disney's Contemporary Resort and then take the water taxi back to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Keep in mind that these boats cease service at 11:30pm. Depending on what time the park closes, this route may not be an option for you. You can take the water taxi directly from the Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. This service is open up to an hour and a half after the Magic Kingdom closes, and is the method of transportation I would recommend unless you really want to walk off that extra Mickey Premium Bar with a walk to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. I hope this information is helpful as you plan your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation with Disney Vacation Club!
