We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge and have reservations at Fort Wilderness for Hoop De Doo. How long is the walk between the two resorts? Would it be better to take the boat?

The distance between the front entrance of the Wilderness Lodge and Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness is about 8 tenths of a mile. There is a pleasant, well-maintained path between these two areas. I often stay at the Wilderness Lodge, the last time I took the walk to FW I saw a family of deer grazing by the side of path. We were able to get within about 15 feet of them. My daughters were in awe.

As to whether it would be better to take the boat, that's really up to you and your energy level. However, I am fairly confident that the path is not well lit at night. If you were feeling perky, you might want to walk to FW while it was light out and then take the boat home in the dark. The boat ride is nice too, and it's a great way to get home when you're tired after dinner.

My family goes to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue every year; we can't bear to miss it. Hope you enjoy!
