We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge in November with a 4 year old. In order to get to Epcot, is it better to take the boat to the MK and then get on the monorail to Epcot rather than sit on the bus?

I give a very complete answer an almost identical question HERE. The short version of the answer is that you would be adding about 15-20 minutes to your travel time if you did the boat/monorail method of travel rather than taking the bus. If you want to avoid the bus, then the boat/monorail is certainly do-able, but you will be extending the length of your trip.
