Connie,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Breakfast at
Chef Mickey's is an iconic experience for any kid, or kid at heart, from ages 2 to 102!
There are two routes to get from
Disney's Wilderness Lodge to
Disney's Contemporary Resort, and both are fairly easy.
Option 1: Boat directly to the Contemporary resort. At different times of the year, there is a boat service directly from the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness to the Contemporary. While this is your most direct option, it is not always running. There is no way to know today if it will be running in March but check with your hotel desk at the Wilderness Lodge and ask. They will know definitively if that is available. If it is, clearly that is the best choice.
Option 2: Boat to the Magic Kingdom and walk. This is most likely the best route you will have available to you. You take the boat from the Wilderness Lodge to the dock just in front of the Magic Kingdom. The walk from there to the Contemporary is a mere 1/2 mile (3/4 km) and is a 10-minute walk for most guests. Sometimes people want to take the monorail around instead. I get that, as the magical experience of riding the rails into the Contemporary is pretty cool, but it will take you more time.
Time: For Option 1, the desk will give you an idea of how early you should depart to make it there. However, for my family, we would always plan to leave an hour before our reservation.
Why? Well, regardless of which option you choose, the boat may not be waiting for you at the dock, and it may go to Fort Wilderness first. Since travel times can vary, it just makes good sense. Plus, if you arrive early, it just gives you time to take in all the futuristic ambiance of the resort!
WARNING: Since you are going to be checking with the desk about the availability of a direct boat route, let them know
when you are dining. They can check to ensure that the boats will be sailing sufficiently early to get you to your breakfast. Otherwise, they will be able to assist with alternate arrangements.
Please feel free to
write me back directly if you have any follow-up questions.
Have a Magical Vacation!
