Cheryl, it sounds like you have an exciting trip planned for this summer! Sometimes, hanging out at the resort is the best part of a Walt Disney World vacation, and it's a sure way to fit in some R & R!
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort is set on a sprawling 750-acre pine and cypress forest, and it provides a plentitude of
outdoor activities. Between the Pony Rides, Archery Lessons, Fishing Excursions, and Chip & Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long, you'd have enough to do without even leaving your resort! I also highly recommend the knee-slapping fun of the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue- the bottomless buckets of fried chicken and unlimited sangria, make this a must do for me!
Although "pool hopping" is not permitted, you are welcome to enjoy any of the other Walt Disney World Resort hotel activities. You'd be amazed at how many there are to chose from, and I have several on my Disney Bucket List! A few resorts, such as Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter and Disney's Yacht & Beach Club offer painting classes. If animation is more your speed, try the Teach to Draw class at
Disney's Art of Animation Resort which is held at 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM daily. For wine lovers, Jiko - The Cooking Place at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge has a South African wine and cheese tasting every Wednesday. If you'd like a more detailed listing of all the offerings, try searching for Resort Recreation calendars on themouseforless.com. The calendars change each month, so be sure to check closer to your visit.
Have a fantastic time, Cheryl!
