We staying at the wilderness cabins December 2025 and we are bringing our small dog. What are the current 2025 vaccine requirements? My small dog has all her current vaccinations, except for the Bordetella?

Howdy Debra, and welcome to planDisney! Fort Wilderness is such a special place at Disney World, a calm oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks, but just a short boat ride from Magic Kingdom. And sharing that experience with your dog is extra magical! So let’s chat about vaccine requirements, so you’re all set for your trip next month.

Canine guests staying at Fort Wilderness must have proof of the following vaccinations: Rabies, D.H.P. (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza), Parvovirus, and Bordetella. Recently, I was in a similar situation with my pup, Meeko, and I made a special visit to the vet to get her Bordetella vaccine before our vacation.

The cabins are so spacious, but if your dog is looking for a little more room to run, be sure to visit the Waggin’ Trails Dog Park near campground loops 300 and 500. This fenced area is open from dawn to dusk, and it’s a fun spot for your dog to make some friends. It can be a bit of a trek from some of the cabins, so you may want to rent a golf cart for your stay. My family loves exploring the campground loops by golf cart, especially around the holidays when so many sites are decorated! You can also bring dogs on the internal Fort Wilderness buses as long as they’re riding in a crate.

To commemorate your pup’s special visit, there are two souvenirs I wanted to mention. First is a complimentary photo magnet Fort Wilderness sometimes makes for canine guests. Ask at the front desk to see if they’re doing these keepsakes while you’re there.

The second is to have the silhouette artists in Magic Kingdom create a hand-cut portrait of your pup from a photo. I had one made of my older dog, Scuttle, and it’s one of my most cherished Disney World keepsakes. There are usually two silhouette carts in Magic Kingdom–one in the alleyway off Main Street, U.S.A., just outside Uptown Jewelers, and another in Liberty Square near Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. These talented artists cut the portraits while you wait, and it only takes about 10 minutes!

I’m wishing you and your pup the most magical stay at Fort Wilderness! And if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
