Hi Lisa!
Welcome to planDisney! It looks like your trip is just around the corner! September is a wonderful time to visit with temperatures starting to cool a bit, and without as much rain as the summer months. Hopefully, you’ll have perfect camping weather for your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort! If you are already accustomed to life without a smartphone, you’ll find things at Walt Disney World are similar in that you may not have access to everything that you would with a smartphone, but that the basics you need are still there, and that you can still have a wonderful and fulfilling day even without technology.
A Key to the World Card is available upon request, but they aren't sent in advance. Once you arrive at
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, head to the Reception Outpost. Even if you have done online check-in before your arrival, you’ll need to head there to request your Key to the World Card. This card will serve as your access to resort amenities, your park tickets, to make charges to your “room,” and to access the Comfort Stations. If you’ll be staying past October 1, 2021, and would like to enjoy the
Early Theme Park Entry for Disney Resort Collection Hotel Guests, you will need a Key to the World Card for that as well.
In terms of getting food, not using a smartphone may limit some of your choices, but this doesn’t mean that everything requires mobile ordering! At table service locations, you can let the Cast Members know you don’t have a smartphone and they will check you in for your reservation manually, and paper menus are available upon request. You will find that many of the more popular (and therefore busier) quick-service locations that offer indoor seating are only offering Mobile Ordering at this time. But think outside the box! Most smaller kiosk locations do not require Mobile Order. At Magic Kingdom, check out
The Friar’s Nook for gourmet hot dogs and macaroni and cheese options. All the
Global Marketplaces at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival accept walk-up Guests.
Yak and Yeti Local Foods Cafe is my daughter’s favorite (she recommends the fried rice) at Animal Kingdom and no Mobile order is required there either. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and at all the theme parks, the
Starbucks locations only offer walk-up ordering. While there are no guarantees, and you should be prepared to be told "no," you can always ask at more traditional locations if they are offering walk-up orders. Explain you don’t have a smartphone and ask if walk-ups are being accommodated at that time. And remember ice cream and popcorn stands make a quick snack and don't currently offer Mobile Ordering!
I hope this helps alleviate some of your concerns, Lisa! Happy packing and have a magical trip!
