Hi Debbie,
Welcome to planDisney! We are so happy that you have stopped by with your question. We love to help our friends plan incredible Disney vacations with their best pals and family. It sounds like you are about to have the most wonderful time with your crew, and it will all happen before you know it!
Debbie, you have made a very wise choice. As a Guest at
Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, you will be calling my favorite area of Walt Disney World Resort "Home" for your vacation. I love Disney's BoardWalk for its convenience, entertainment, and vacation vibes. I think you are going to be thrilled. You might find yourself making plans to return and stay in all of the other Resort hotels in the same area: Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Yacht Club Resort, and Disney's BoardWalk Inn.
I am happy to share with you that not only can you drive your mobility scooter directly aboard a FriendShip to sail on Crescent Lake to both EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios, but you could also enjoy that peaceful ride along the beautiful walking path to either theme park. Both of my parents use mobility scooters around Walt Disney World Resort to keep up with our (now teenage) little Mousketeers on vacation. We have walked (and scooted) these trails while singing our favorite Disney songs more times than I can count! They hold a special place in our hearts.
If boat transportation is more your style, then the friendly Cast Members at the dock will set up a fancy ramp that allows you to scoot aboard in style. Since the interior area of this particular type of boat is pretty spacious, they can generally accommodate a few mobility scooters and open strollers at a time. It is very easy to enjoy this journey to the theme parks.
When a visit to
Magic Kingdom Park is on your agenda, do schedule a little extra time for the journey. This Resort hotel uses a third-party bus company for its theme park shuttles, and Guests are dropped off at the Transportation and Ticket Center rather than the Magic Kingdom Bus Area. Hakuna Matata (it means no worries!) You will simply board the ferryboat or Disney Monorail to the theme park. This will add approximately 20-30 additional minutes to the trip, but who doesn't love soaring across the sky on the Disney Monorail?
The bus ride to
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park ends in the parking lot for an easy roll to the gates.
Please know that if your day includes a bus ride to or from the Walt Disney Swan Hotel, these buses can accommodate one or two electric scooters. That means that with your party of three guests, it will require at least a second bus, which run approximately every 25 minutes.
Tip: If you find yourself looking to indulge your sweet tooth, head on over to
BoardWalk Ice Cream, located right around the corner from you on Disney's BoardWalk. If you love peanut butter the way that I do, try the Thundering Surf Peanut Butter and Chocolate Sundae from a seat overlooking the water. This experience is pretty hard to top!
I hope that was helpful, Debbie! Please let us know what other questions you might have as you plan your magical Disney Parks vacation. We are here for you.
Adventure is out there,
Sally
