Hi Rhonda,
Welcome to planDisney and let me be among the first to wish your family a BIG congratulations on this happy news. My cousin and his wife celebrated their son's adoption at Walt Disney World Resort last summer and it was a magical and joyous day after months and months of patience and perseverance! I'm so thrilled for your family to enjoy this special time together.
During my visit last week, I stopped at my resort's
Front Desk to request celebration buttons for my children. They graduated from 8th and 5th grade the day before our arrival and were very excited to wear their complimentary buttons around the parks and resorts all week. Cast Members were eager to read the personalized button text and offer their congratulations. We even had a few special interactions with
Disney PhotoPass photographers who went above and beyond to capture photos of their proud smiles.
I recommend starting your visit the same way by picking up an "I'm Celebrating" button and letting Cast Members know about your family's happy occasion. You can even order a
personalized Mickey cake to enjoy during a Table-Service meal. My family enjoyed one for my daughter's birthday earlier this year and it was delicious!
Though Cast Members love making magic and are always ready to share fun facts and helpful tips, I can't make any promises about special gifts or room upgrades. These types of magical extras are what we like to refer to as "pixie dust" and are always surprises. I wouldn't go in with any expectations, but always be open to a sprinkling of pixie dust when you least expect it.
Over the years my family has been on the receiving end of this magic in the form of free ice cream cones, a chance to pull the sword from the stone in front of cheering crowds, and a room upgrade on one very special and very unexpected occasion. These were all moments of pixie-dusted perfection, but I'll admit I've had an equally warm fuzzy feeling just from watching the magic unfold around us. The squeals and smiles from a baby meeting Mickey for the very first time at
Chef Mickey's last week melted my heart, just as much as seeing a couple dance in celebration of their 41st wedding anniversary in front of cheering crowds at
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. The magic of Walt Disney World Resort is in these small moments and interactions, and it's the reason my family returns year after year.
Rhonda, I hope your son is on the receiving end of magic, in whatever form that might end up being. I recommend taking matters into your own hands and starting with a celebratory ice cream sundae or a Mickey-shaped snack and seeing how the rest of your visit unfolds. You've already given him the biggest dose of pixie dust by making him a permanent part of your beautiful family. That love and magic will outshine any other gift in your lifetimes, I'm certain.
I'm wishing you a magical and memorable visit next month. Please come back and let us know if we can offer any additional planning assistance as you count down to your arrival at
Disney's All-Star Music Resort.
You are the magic,
Amy
