Carla,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Maybe it is nostalgia, or perhaps I just like the experience, but I regularly will go on a monorail, a ferry boat, or the Disney Skyliner, just for the ride. It is so nice to get a relaxing break in the day, and in many cases, you get the perk of a scenic ride filled with some great photo opportunities. On what can be an otherwise high-activity level trip, these rides can be a great oasis of calm in the middle of your day.
There are a few options that you might enjoy. Here are a few to consider.
Ferry Boats by the Magic Kingdom
What I think you were asking specifically about are the Ferry Boats from the Transportation and Ticket Center to the Magic Kingdom Park. They are larger boats, with outside standing areas on two levels, and with cover. They give you photo-worthy views of the different area resorts. For you to get to them, I just recommend you take the bus from Disney's All-Star Movies Resort to the Magic Kingdom, then walk over to the boat dock, which is just in front of the entrance to the Magic Kingdom. You can take them back and forth, as often as you would like!
Water Launch to Magic Kingdom Area resorts
These smaller boats are even more fun, as you sail over to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, or Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. This dock is close to the Magic Kingdom monorail entrance. There is also a different dock that is directly in front of the entrance to the Magic Kingdom that has the same type of boats, but these are headed to Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. In both cases the launches are all outside seating, with some cover. You can get to these the same way you did the Ferry boats.
Friendship Boats
There are boats that transport people between the EPCOT area resorts, the EPCOT International Gateway, and Disney's Hollywood Studios. These boats are larger, with mostly inside seating. To get to these you just need to be at the front gate of Hollywood Studios, or the International Gateway exit of EPCOT.
Write me back if you get any follow-up question.
Have a Magical Vacation!
