We are staying at Saratoga Springs in October, and hope to spend time at Disney Springs. Our family has two significant allergies, gluten and tree nut. Are the restaurants at Disney Springs as accommodating as the ones at the resorts and parks?

    Hi Kristin!

I’m back! As the momma and wife of people with dietary allergies, I completely understand your desire to scout out meal options that will work for your family. The great thing is that Walt Disney World (including Disney Springs) is one of the few places that I feel entirely comfortable traveling. Disney is committed to providing a safe AND delicious experience for all of its Guests!

The restaurants at Disney Springs operate under the Disney umbrella, and more often than not, the fantastic Disney Chefs can substitute different ingredients to accommodate most of the common food allergies, including gluten or tree nut. One of the best things about the Disney restaurants is that the majority of their menus are online, and many of the online lists include Allergy-Free sections. If the Allergy-Friendly Menus are not online, when you arrive at the restaurant, the special menus will be available. We have had excellent allergy experiences at all of the Disney Springs dining locations. We celebrated our twins’ birthday last weekend at Splitsville Luxury Lanes, and the manager came and touched base with us multiple times about our meal.

The My Disney Experience app can also help you navigate your special dietary needs. On the app, click on the restaurant, the “Order-Food” tab, and then you will see an Allergy-Friendly button. Under the Allergy-Friendly menu, you will find additional tabs that break down allergies into categories, ranging from Gluten/Wheat Allergy-Friendly to Peanut/Tree Nut Allergy-Friendly.

Kristin, I hope this helps you feel more comfortable dining on your trip. Above all, make sure to communicate your allergies to a Cast Member on arrival to your dining location. If you want to talk with a Chef too, they are often available at Table Service locations to discuss your options. We never say goodbye around here, so I’ll see ya real soon!
