    I am staying on resort and want to know if you can get the character magic bands through your reservation or if you have to purchase this as an extra. I am a pass holder and vacation club owner

    Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It’s amazing how something as simple as a Magic Band has turned into an art form. There are so many magical designs available, there truly is something for everyone!

    Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, or who have a Walt Disney World Annual Pass are eligible to receive a complimentary solid color Magic Band. You can customize your Magic Band with your name and your choice of one of seven colors, to be either shipped to your home or to be waiting for you upon arrival at your resort. If you choose not to customize your bands, basic grey Magic Bands will be issued to you upon check-in.

    If you are interested in one of the many popular Character Magic Bands, these can be purchased at most gift shops on property, or you can purchase them online before your trip from The Disney Store. You’ll also find decorative covers, sliders and “bandits” to give your Magic Band your own magical touch. As a Disney Vacation Club Member, if you decide to purchase while on your vacation, be sure to have your Membership Card and Photo ID to receive your 10% merchandise discount.

    Another idea might be to decorate your complimentary Magic Bands. This has become a popular way for families to build excitement for their trip, and you can find all kinds of creative ideas on Pinterest for decorating your own band. One of my coworkers did this for her trip and used glow in the dark nail polish! I hope one of these ideas will work for you, Kathy.
