We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside with our two grandchildren ages 7 and 10 in February. I have purchased Disney gift cards for Christmas presents. Will they be able to load the amount on their magic bands at check in to pay for their souvenirs?

    Hi Susan!

What a special vacation you have planned for February! I know your grandchildren are so excited to experience such a magical trip to the Walt Disney World Resort. I know countless memories will be created that the four of y'all will cherish for "minnie" yEARs to come.

Susan, I'm a huge fan of Disney Gift Cards and especially love giving them as gifts when we have a land or sea vacation planned. My Mouseketeers enjoy having their "own" Disney money to spend on their souvenirs and treats. At this time, Disney Gift Cards cannot be loaded onto MagicBands, but I have a couple of suggestions on how to manage the cards during your visit. If you place a credit card on your Resort hotel reservation, all purchases can be charged on your MagicBands and the balance paid down by the Disney Gift Cards. We do this option a lot and try to stop by the Front Desk every couple of days to check our balance and apply our Disney Gift Cards. Another idea is to utilize the Disney Gift Card website to combine your grandchildren's Disney Gift Cards into one card each (a card can hold up to $1000.00 each) so they have just one card to keep up with while visiting the parks. Every time they make a purchase, the balance will be listed on the receipt so it's easy to keep up with their current gift card amount. To combine Disney Gift Card amounts you'll want to create an online account and then input the card information on the back under the "Manage Cards" tab. It doesn't take too long, and I always have a permanent marker handy so I can mark the "Primary" card and balance amount on the back.

It was a pleasure assisting you with your question, Susan. Please feel free to reach out again if you need further help with your vacation plans! Best wishes for a wonderful holiday and magical visit in February!
