Hi there, Jennifer!
You have touched on a topic that I think stirs more conversation and controversy than the resort refillable mugs. "Pool hopping" is one of those touchy things that can cause some confusion, so I hope I do a good job explaining it for you. Let's dive right in.
Disney Vacation Club members, when staying using their DVC membership, are permitted - with some restrictions - to take advantage of Complimentary Alternative Pool Use (pool hopping). This option is subject to black out dates (there are no blackout dates in June), and some pools are excluded from the hopping rule.
Guests staying at
Disney resort hotels may use the pools at the hotel where they are staying. Non-DVC guests do not have the ability to pool hop to other resorts or other pools.
Basically what this means is that your DVC family members will be able to join you at
Ol' Man Island 3.5 acre pool area. Even if you were DVC members staying at another resort,
Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort does not permit any guest - including DVC members - to hop.
You will always want to check at your resort before taking the plunge and pool hopping. Even when hopping is allowed, if a pool is approaching or at capacity, they may restrict the ability to hop.
Well that went swimmingly!
I hope you are in for a wave of great fun on your upcoming vacation.
Anna
