We are staying at the Port Orleans, Riverside. My parents are staying in the campground. I notice that they are close together. Can we walk from Port Orleans to the campground to visit with my parents?

    Hi Tracy,

How fun to be enjoying your Disney World vacation with your parents. I am sure you will all have a fantastic time.

The Disney resorts are separated into sections depending on what theme park or area that are located the closest to. Port Orleans Riverside is a Downtown Disney resort, whereas Fort Wilderness is a Magic Kingdom resort. While the two resorts are just a short drive from each other, they are unfortunately not within walking distance of each other. Even if the distance was closer, there is no clear walkways or paths to travel given the design of the Disney property. A good majority of the travel areas have large roads with a great deal of traffic and are not safe for pedestrians.

If you  or your parents have a car, you will be able to drive to each resort within approximately fifteen minutes. If you do not have a car and would like the quickest route, you can get a cab at either location for a small fee. The last option would be to use Disney transportation. From Port Orleans Riverside, you would need to take a bus to one of the theme parks or Downtown Disney and then transfer to either the Fort Wilderness bus or boat depending on where you were. Cast Members would be able to direct you to the easiest choice depending on where you are at right then.

Wishing you a magical time full of family memories!
