Hi we are staying@ the port orleans riverside and i want to know if that is a good hotel for my Family of all ages? How should i plan the days with 12 people?we will be there for a week and should we take book bages with us everyday with water ect?

    Hi Staci,

Port Orleans Riverside is perfect for all ages.  It is small enough that you can easily get to food, pools and transportation but big enough for privacy if you need it.  I love to stay in the Mansions when I go.  Also, look at a villa in one of the Deluxe Resort such as the Boardwalk.  These rooms can accomodate your entire family, and have a kitchen to prepare meals.

When planning for 12 people, I have discussions with each family.  Decide ahead of time how to pay for meals, the amount of time spent touring together and must see attractions. Are you all leaving at the same time for the same park? Working these items out before hand will make your trip more enjoyable.

Next, plan your touring schedule. I would go to EPCOT or Animal Kingdom first because they have the most walking. Then, Magic Kingdom is a good choice. Hollywood Studios is a perfect for the end or middle of the trip because you are sitting at 30 minute shows. Schedule down time.

If you are dining together, print out for each adult a list of the restaurants you will be eating at with times. This provides a meeting place in case you get separated. We always eat dinner as a family.  On one trip, I paid for all of the meals and then sent each family the bill at the end. It made things easier for the server and everyone worried about the bill after the vacation. Advance Dining Reservations are a must for your group.

I always bring a backpack into the park.  I have water, snacks and other necessities depending on the age of my daughters.  I usually freeze one water bottle and it will melt through the day. The bag will be inspected so opt for one with few compartments.

Try a Grand Gathering or the Hoop Dee Doo Revue or Spirit of Aloha show. This could be the special memory from your trip plus these shows are a lot of fun with a big group.

Have a magical vacation and stay flexible!
