We will be staying at Port Orleans in June. My wife will require a motorized wheel chair to be able to visit a couple theme parks. How do we insure that she will be able to get one for this?

    Hi William,

The wheelchairs and EVCs available at the Disney theme parks are first-come, first-served. While this would be unusual, it is possible that they could be out of these mobility devices when you arrive. Another drawback of the Disney rentals is that they cannot leave the theme parks. Many guests with mobility issues find that they also need assistance at their resort, Downtown Disney, or other locales.

My suggestion is that your rent your mobility device from one of the many reputable agencies in the Orlando area. These agencies will typically drop off the wheelchair or ECV at your hotel before your arrival and pick it up upon your departure. While I have not personally used these services, two that I hear particularly good things about are walkermobility.com and buenavistascooters.com. Contact them directly for more information.

All Disney buses and monorails are equipped to handle wheelchairs and ECVs, so your wife will have no trouble getting around Disney property.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
