Staying at POR (excited), which building/rooms would be the best to request? Can you request those at check-in? We can't stay in Royal Rooms since we are going with a family of 5 (verses 4 like us)...unless they are Royal Rooms that fit 5. Thanks

Hi, Nicole! Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is one of my family's favorite places to stay while on vacation. There are so many fun activities held throughout the day at the resort, especially at the feature pool. We really appreciate that not only do we have a wide variety of meals available to us at the Riverside Mill food court, but also a wonderful table-service restaurant that features many of our favorite New Orleans treats.

We have stayed in both the Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend sections, which is where you will find the Royal Rooms. While the Royal Rooms do only have two queen-size beds in each room, all rooms in the Alligator Bayou section do have a Murphy-style bed in addition to two queen-size beds, making room for a family of five. The Royal Rooms do have a wonderful sense of enchantment, but I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how magical the Alligator Bayou rooms are. Our younger daughter loved the fold-down bed, which was perfectly sized for her.

This Resort is somewhat large, so making a room request may help you be placed in an area beneficial for your family. Room requests are exactly that - just a request and cannot be guaranteed. When you complete online check-in before your vacation begins, you are able to make up to two room requests for consideration. There are four bus stops around the resort, so transportation is usually not a big consideration when I am requesting an area. I usually request close to main building so I will not have too far to walk in the morning to get my morning coffee in my Resort refillable mug. If you plan to spend a lot of time at the pool, definitely swim your pointer to that selection.

I hope this helps you while planning your visit, Nicole. Please stop by again if you have any further questions. Have a magical day!
