Staying at POR in early May. Must have a refrigerator due to autistic DS's gluten free diet. Need to bring his GF food for breakfast in room. Should I change resorts, make a nonmedical fridge request, or hope for the best?

    Hi, Jaynee!

You've planned a stay at my family's favorite Disney Moderate Resort -- Port Orleans Riverside! We were Guests of Port Orleans Riverside this past May and had a wonderful stay at the resort. If you have the opportunity to dine at Boatwright's (Riverside's table service restaurant), you won't be disappointed. The decor is interesting and unique and the cuisine is delicious!

I completely understand your needing to plan ahead to refrigerate your son's gluten-free breakfast food, but no worries about having a mini fridge available for use in your resort room at Port Orleans Riverside. All Disney Resort hotels are equipped with a complimentary refrigerator. I'm assuming that your concerns are due to the fact that Disney is currently in the process of replacing the mini fridges in many of the resorts? Again, no worries -- this process will be completed well before your arrival in Spring 2014. If it would ease any concerns, you can request to have a note placed on your Port Orleans Riverside resort reservation stating that you require a fridge due to a special dietary concern. Simply call Disney at 407-939-5277 (if you booked your vacation directly) or ask your travel agent to do this on your behalf.

I hope this helps! Please visit the Disney Parks Moms Panel again with any other vacation planning questions.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
