Staying at POR and booked Kona Cafe for 7:30 a.m. 9/3. I'm assuming the early bus will get us there in time, but is it realistic to think we'll be able to finish breakfast and get to the MK in time for the rope drop show? Thanks!!!

Hi Kelly! I walk into Kona Cafe knowing I'm ordering the Tonga Toast, so I have been able to eat breakfast there and still make it to the Magic Kingdom in time for the Opening Ceremony. You'll definitely need to arrive at Kona by 7:30 a.m. and order quickly in order to make it to the Magic Kingdom by 8:45 or so for the Opening Ceremony. I'm a big fan of Disney transportation, but for a breakfast reservation this early at a Disney resort, I think I would grab a taxi. The cab ride to the Polynesian takes only 15 minutes or so. If you take a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then take the monorail to the Polynesian you'll need to plan for a 45-minute trip and you may have to wait 15 minutes for a bus to arrive. Since you may not catch a bus until 7 a.m., I worry that you'll be late arriving to Kona, which lessens your chances of finishing breakfast in time to see the Opening Ceremony. A cab would save you a lot of worry and let you sleep in a little later.

Kudos to you for planning to be at the Magic Kingdom for rope drop! Arriving early is the best way to ensure that you'll be able to experience lots of attractions with little waiting.

Eat some Tonga Toast for me! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We'd love to help!
