Welcome to planDisney, R Lucretia!
Your Walt Disney World Resort visit is coming up so soon! It is a good idea to think about how you plan to navigate your way around the resort.
I generally use a combination of
Disney Resort Transportation and rideshare service during my visits to Walt Disney World Resort. Whether or not a rideshare vehicle can accommodate your electric scooter will depend on the type of scooter, and also the type of vehicle. If your scooter is portable and can be folded and placed in the trunk or cargo area of the vehicle, in most cases that should work, especially if you request an XL vehicle. You may wish to message your driver to confirm they can accommodate your scooter.
If your scooter does not fold, remember most rideshare drivers are using their personal vehicles and would not likely have a ramp or lift for the scooter. The Lyft app does have an Access Mode (you'll find it in your settings) and Uber has a WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle) option, however my understanding is that accessible vehicles may not be available in all areas. I recommend checking out the websites for Uber and Lyft for more information about accessible vehicles.
Mears Transportation operates taxi service within Walt Disney World Resort and does have accessible vans that can accommodate electric scooters. A quick internet search will turn up their contact information.
I think your best bet will be to take advantage of complimentary Disney Resort Transportation during your visit. I just returned from a stay at
Disney's Pop Century Resort, and I was so impressed with the efficiency of the bus system. Due to physical distancing and limited bus capacity, I was worried about long waits, but I am happy to report I never waited more than a few minutes for a bus during my entire stay. You'll also have easy access to the
Disney Skyliner transportation system, which is my favorite way to travel to
Disney's Hollywood Studios and
EPCOT.
Bus transportation and the Disney Skyliner can easily accommodate electric scooters.
I hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any additional questions as you prepare for your vacation. Enjoy your groovy stay at Disney's Pop Century Resort!
