Georgina,
You will love
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside! The bucolic atmosphere helps remind you that even during a fast-paced Disney vacation, a little time for rest and relaxation is just what the doctor ordered!
There is a main parking lot that is in front of the hotel's lobby building, but there are also parking areas next to every building complex. So parking near your room will not be a problem at all.
I do find, however, that rooms that are in the Magnolia Bend section of the resort seem to have shorter distances from the parking areas to all the rooms. I would suggest that section if you have the option. Building 85 gives you the shortest distance to get from your building to the lobby and restaurant building, as well as to the feature pool.
If you would rather be in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort, ask for any of these buildings to shorten your distance to the adjacent parking lots. Buildings 15, 16, 17, 24, 34, 35, 36, or 37.
BONUS TIPIf you choose to use the
Online Check-In feature in your My Disney Experience account prior to arrival, you should get some room location request options. These are not guaranteed to be met, but Disney tries to accommodate these requests whenever possible. They change over time, but ground level rooms are often one of the options, so use that tool to improve the location of your room as well.
