Hi Joseph!
Welcome back to planDisney! We were just sitting around the evening fire pit with my kids discussing our upcoming Disney visit and we asked them what their favorite Disney Resort was. My daughter voted for
Disney’s Old Key West Resort! It is certainly one of my favorites as well for the laid-back and relaxed atmosphere, spacious rooms, and wonderful dining options. I highly recommend
Oliva’s Cafe which is a hidden gem! The Southernmost Buttermilk Chicken is not to be missed, and be sure to get a piece of their famous Key Lime Pie to take back to the room for later!
There are indeed ice machines located throughout the resort, in case you need something cold to have with that Key Lime Pie. You’ll find ice machines along with soda machines in the laundry rooms. There is a laundry near the feature Sandcastle Pool across from Community Hall, at the Miller’s Road Pool, the South Point Pool, and the Old Turtle Pond Pool. In the past, there were also ice machines located at the bus stops, but I believe on our October trip they had been removed, so you should plan on needing to head to the pool and laundry area.
I hope this helps with your planning, Joseph! And I hope you love Disney’s Old Key West Resort as much as I do! On our last two visits, I requested the Peninsular Road area, and we found that area to be very convenient with only a moderate walk to the Hospitality House and Sandcastle Pool area. If you choose to do
Online Check-in before arrival, you can request this area as well. While it is only a request and not a guarantee, I find it is always worth making the request and maybe you’ll get lucky
Have a Magical Day!
