We are staying at Old Key West in June 2024. What activities at Fort Wilderness are available to us?

    Hi Leigh!

Welcome back to planDisney!  Each resort in the Disney Resorts Collection has a unique theme and a wide range of activities.  There is so much to see and explore, that I never choose to stay in the same resort twice and resort hopping has become one of my favorite ways to spend a "rest" day from the parks!

Leigh, Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort is a popular destination. . .even for those who aren't staying there!  You'll be happy to know that you can join in the fun with many of the activities available at this resort.  While certain amenities like pools are restricted to guests staying at the resort, other recreational activities such as kayak rentals, horseback riding, archery, and fishing are available to anyone.  It's also important to note that reservations are highly recommended for most recreational activities around the resort.  If you want a "sneak peek" at a few of these offerings, my panelist pals Lauren and Elaine recently shared some of their own experiences on the planDisney Instagram page which included a look around Tri-Circle D Ranch for Lauren and horseback riding for Elaine!

If your schedule allows, I suggest dinner at the Hoop-Dee-Do Musical Revue.  It's been several years since I've had the chance to dine here, but it's still an evening that stands out as a great Disney memory!  The dinner show combines classic picnic-type food with delightful entertainment.  Whether you're traveling with kids or as a group of adults, this meal is sure to leave everyone smiling and laughing!

To get to Fort Wilderness from Disney's Old Key West Resort, you'll want to take a bus to Magic Kingdom Park and then a boat to the campground.  With the close proximity to Magic Kingdom, you can even watch the Happily Ever After fireworks from the beach at Fort Wilderness to end your day!

I hope this information is helpful as you plan for a day of resort hopping over at Fort Wilderness!  Leigh, you've got a friend in me here at planDisney and I hope we see you again if you have any other vacation planning questions in the future!

    See ya real soon!
    Kristi
