Hi Christina!
Welcome back to planDisney! I love seeing a Guest return to us with more questions!
Disney’s Old Key West Resort is an excellent choice for your upcoming Walt Disney World Vacation. We are
Disney Vacation Club Members and this is one of our favorite resorts. We are already looking forward to our upcoming stay there this winter. We love the large rooms and laid-back atmosphere at this resort. One of my favorite ways to spend a Disney day is to relax around the pool at Disney’s Old Key West Resort with a view of my kids splashing in the water and a refreshing beverage in my hand from
The Gurgling Suitcase. We typically have a standard room reservation as well, rather than a booking near the Hospitality House. I like to request the Peninsular Road area, either buildings 27, 28, or 29. While there is still a short walk to the Hospitality House, we find it is reasonable. Any extra steps I get in means extra Disney treats in my mind anyway! There is also a specific bus stop in this area near building 26 (which is the Hospitality House category). The Peninsular Road bus stop is the first bus stop on the route, and so you also don’t tend to run into the issue of a full morning bus.
Another good option would be to request buildings 16, 62, 63, or 64. These are also close and would mean a short walk to grab a meal or refill your mugs. I think this walk is a bit shorter than the Peninsular Road walk. It's important to note that the bus stop for these buildings is located at the Hospitality House. The only issue is, since that is the last bus stop on the way to the theme parks, you may find a seat hard to find at particularly busy times. This is why I prefer the slightly longer walk from the Peninsular Road area, and why we request that area. You can also always walk to the Peninsular Road bus stop if you are worried about this issue.
I hope this helps with your planning, Christina. Wishing you a magical visit to the
Walt Disney World Resort!
